I applied to med school and didn't get in anywhere (with a 3.8 and a 518! >.> I abused the fuck out of caffeine to pour like 80 hours a week into a reapplication (seriously it's funny i'm not applying anymore cause my app was SICK this year) and went really crazy. You know those doctors who are like into the white coat ceremony and dig the ritual of it? Or like the really mystical/artsy doctors? Think guys like Oliver Sacks/Carl Jung/Freud/Luria/Hippocrates I was totally gonna be one of those doctors.īut a ton of crazy stuff happened as I was getting healthier. And honestly, in my crazy pursuit of the awesome job that is being a doctor I was able to encounter the ideas, have the experiences, and meet the people that could show me the way back to a place of physical and spiritual health.Īs I got healthier, I loved medicine more and more and I really came into a deep spiritual/artistic/philosophical place with it. It was really just a deep need for personal healing that attracted me to the field of medicine.
